Founded in 1972, MEETING PROFESSIONALS INTERNATIONAL (MPI) gave itself the mission to be recognized as the leading global membership community, to be committed to shaping and defining the meeting and event industry and to provide a high level of education, especially geared for industry professionals. All this to achieve better events and to convince organizations that meetings are a vital and necessary element that affect the bottom line, sometimes in a dramatic manner! MPI has been working on this task for over 35 years now!
What is MEETING PROFESSIONALS INTERNATIONAL?
Established in 1972, Dallas-based Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is the largest association for the meeting profession with more than 23 000 members in 68 chapters communities around the world. As the global authority and resource for the $102.3 billion meeting and event industry, MPI empowers meeting professionals to increase their strategic value through education, clearly defined career pathways, and business growth opportunities. Montréal is the first city in the world to have founded a francophone chapter of MPI. Incorporated in Quebec under the Association internationale des professionnels en planification de réunions et congrès - MPI Montréal, the chapter regroups 234 members (planners and suppliers) and 10 student members. The birth of MPI in Quebec constituted a turning point in the evolution for this region's industry. In fact, harnessing a worldwide industry's power and our local expertise allowed us to provide training and education in both French and English. It also lead to the birth of the very first all French MPI Educational Conference: Convivium. This highly attended and rich in content conference has been a source of inspiration and education for French speaking meeting planners since 1994.
MPI plays a key role in our industry because it caters to the specific needs of its members and non-members (to some extend). It offers quality educational programs aimed at excellence for the meeting and congress industry while maintaining a high level of professionalism and ethics.
